3 Favorite Tanning Lotions
Let's face it, although tanning is not recommended or great for your skin, most of us fall victim to wanting a nice sun glow any day of the week. The tanning trend started in the 1920's when Coco Chanel started to sport deeply sun-bronzed skin and spearheaded tanning as a fashion statement. Shortly after, companies attempted to capitalize on the trend and let all the tanning lotions flourish! I wanted to share with you all my favorite tanning options depending on the day/mood.
If you don't have much time in the day to spend out tanning, this is my go to option! Quick fun fact about this product is that it was brought to the USA after the orange gelee formula thrived in Europe in the 1940's. The orange gelee definitely gives you a quick glow to the skin during and after you tan. The gelee definitely permits for a more natural looking tan instead of a straight sunburn. Tip: Leave the product out in the sun for a bit so it gets easier to apply (more melted in a way) and after you apply, wash your hands! If you don't, you may end up with full on orange palms 😂✋
#2 The Fox Tan
This is an amazing Australian brand, cruelty free, vegan and packed so many nutrients - shea butter, cacao butter, aloe vera leaf juice, watermelon seed oil and so much more! This is also a quicker tan option since The Fox Tan focuses on stimulating your melanin production. Note: Do not use if you have a nut intolerance and of course, the result will be dependent on how much melanin your body will produce.
#3 SunBum Tanning Oil
Florida born brand in 2010, I certainly have a special place for this tanning oil. If you do not live near the beach, SunBum is the perfect reminder of what it feels to be there - the smell/scent is like no other! It is hypoallergenic, reef friendly, cruelty free, vegan and gluten free. Tip: Apply 15 minutes before tanning for best results.
